My photographic journey has surely taken me places.
If you'd have told me a few years back that I'd actually have the opportunity to do a Live interview with one of my favorite photographers, whom I'd been following via podcasts at that point...We'd have had words.
In all honesty, I'd been meaning to extend an invitation to this most recent guest for quite some time, but I admit that I let Life and a very negatively persuasive internal dialogue get the best of things.
"What's the worst that could happen?" I told myself
"He could say 'No'..."
That's basically the underlying thought that prevailed when I set about putting together the next addition to my ongoing series of interviews. This series, while still very young is indeed a labor of love and whenever I choose to conduct an interview with a particular photographer, rest assured that the main motivation is because I truly do enjoy his/her work a great deal.
In the spirit of forging onward and not let myself get sidetracked, I reached out to an individual whose work I've long regarded as both accomplished and remarkable.
As a recognized member of the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International as well as the Professional Photographers of America, among other accolades, he's indeed a veteran in the craft. With a career spanning 3 decades(and counting), along with a recognizable business and brand that are quite noteworthy especially in an industry where distinguishing yourself is no laughing matter.
David's exquisite work is a testament of his dedication to excellence and a commitment to providing a quality of service that clients and peers alike the world around have acknowledged greatly.
I have a tremendous respect for David and his many accomplishments - including his willingness to kindly pay it forward to those with lesser opportunities and privileges as, among his many talents, he also honours speaking engagements as a motivation speaker at local elementary schools throughout Southern California. His driving message has always been one of empowerment, where he encourages one and all to look beyond our 'limitations' in order to dig deep within ourselves as we strive -and succeed- to make our dreams happen.
David has been gracious enough to accept my invitation, as it was indeed his convincing nudge for us to flip this interview format on its head and have ourselves a first ever Live interview. I will not hide how grateful and honored I am for this opportunity as I really do value his experience and insight into everything photography and what it really means to pick a camera, make an image and capture a moment.
I'm sure you will as well.
