It’d been a seriously long time since I had actually taken some time off to grab my camera and go out shooting - not for clients, not for any other professional or creative venture, but, as they say, “just because”.
I used to enjoy photo walks on the regular but recently, time to myself has become a severely scarce resource.
So, when I called up my friend and fellow photographer Koralie Woodward to join me and help me in ironing out the details, it was imperative that I make the most of this outing.
No elaborate agenda, just a route, a fresh battery, formatted memory card and a (tentative) time slot - funny thing is that we spent more time walking and catching up than actually shooting. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. “Spray & Pray” is not my personal style.
I actually enjoyed re-discovering corners of Montreal I hadn’t been to or through in ages.
A photo walk like this was quite stimulating. I enjoyed "sparing" with someone whose talent and vision never fail to keep me on my toes. Getting back in the groove in order to "see" my shots was really moving. Sometimes, to get out of your lull, you just need to go ahead and shoot - then see what you end up with.
